Buller District Council

Westport Water Update – March 9 2022

9th March, 2022

Today we are moving to from essential water use to restricted water use.

Restricted water use means:

  • Limited use of water for operational and maintenance priorities as required for business sustainability.
  • Limited residential outdoor use with hand-held buckets, watering cans, water blasters and low flow devices/attachments.
  • No high-use consumption/filling activites or general hard-surface hosing is permitted, including unattended sprinkler devices.

More information, including water saving tips, can be found on council’s website https://bullerdc.govt.nz/water/.

As individuals and as a community as a whole, we need to continue to take care with our water usage, being mindful that the water situation is not back to normal yet. Please be aware that we may need to shift back to essential water use if the situation changes, and the boil water notice remains in place. The water supply situation will continue to be closely monitored and council will continue to keep our community updated. Daily water updates are being published around 10am weekdays on council’s website.
