New online building consent application system goes live

05 May 2023

Buller District Council customers will be able to apply from Monday 8 May 2023 for a consent through Objective Build, a new online application system designed to create consistent, transparent, and quality application experience.

The system was built after interviews with over a hundred builders, architects, designers, and industry professionals across New Zealand to ensure it meets the needs of the building industry.

Group manager regulatory services Sean Judd says: “The new online system will improve the ability to reuse information across applications, the applicant can clearly see the status of the application, will receive updates when actions are required, and can better manage its consent throughout the process.”

The Go Live is scheduled for 5pm on Friday 5 May 2023. Therefore, any consents lodged via AlphaOne after 5pm on Friday will not be received. The new system will be available for applicants from 9am Monday 8 May 2023.

Mr Judd says: “We have updated our website and contacted companies and trades people who regularly lodge consents. Applicants will find a lot of information that will assist them to navigate the new online system. If people have used paper forms before we encourage them to give the new system a go – it will make their next application much easier.”

The online platform is the first release of Objective Build, which aims to create a complete consenting system for New Zealand.

The platform will connect seamlessly to backend council systems, allowing New Zealand to work across a single platform. Building and Construction industry professionals will have one account to handle all applications, instead of the multiple accounts they currently have.

Objective has over 20-years of history working with councils across the world, and decades of experience in building and planning.
