Westport’s NBS Theatre launches winter movie special

07 Jun 2024

Buller District Council and Westport’s NBS Theatre will run a three-month ‘Winter Special’ movie programme with a reduced-price feature film showing at least once per week, starting from 24 June.

There will be a range of different movies featured and the special will be scheduled on different days of the week, meaning there will be something for everyone.

Buller District Council’s Manager Customer Experience Shelley Jope says: “This initiative aims to encourage people to get out and about this winter and enjoy everything their local theatre has to offer. The NBS Theatre staff are very excited about being able to introduce, or reintroduce, the wonder of the big screen movie experience to as many people as possible and we hope this opportunity will be well received.”

Because the featured movie, screening day and screening time will change each week, it is important that movie-goers check the NBS Theatre schedule carefully before they turn up.

You can do this by:

  • Looking out for the NBS movie schedule online
  • Keeping an eye on the NBS Theatre e-newsletter
  • Checking the theatre’s Facebook page
  • Tuning in to Coast FM on Thursday mornings at 8:30 am.

“This community-focused initiative to increase theatre patronage is provided at no additional cost to Buller ratepayers, and we encourage everyone to come along and make the most of this special offer” says Mrs Jope.

The Winter Special programme kicks off on Monday 24 June with a screening of family favourite IF at 5:30 pm – all tickets $5.

The Reefton Cinema is trialling earlier screening times on Saturdays at 6 pm, instead of 7 pm, during the winter period. Keep an eye on the online schedule, Facebook page and the Clarion each week for further details.
