Community Outreach days

Are you interested in connecting with your Council? Can we provide you with advice or guidance on Council processes? Would you like to know more about what Council does?

About Community Outreach days

Community Outreach Days were established as drop-in sessions to provide our remote communities with informal opportunities to engage directly with Council staff and Elected Members. They offered a chance to raise concerns, seek process support, and access information.

From September 2024 to December 2025, sixteen bi-monthly drop-in sessions were held across Ikamatua, Maruia, Ngakawau, Karamea, Charleston and Punakaiki.

What's happening?

The Community Outreach days initiative is currently being reviewed and remodelled to ensure the ways we connect in-person with our outlying communities are effective, practical and meaningful.

Over the next few months, staff and Elected Members will consider the most achievable and practical options for the future delivery of the programme.

Once the new approach is finalised, the updated format, dates and locations will be advertised through a range of channels, including Council’s website, Facebook page and community newspapers.
