In memory of former councillor Graeme Neylon
Buller District Council extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of former councillor Graeme Neylon, a much-valued stalwart of the Reefton and Inangahua community.
Graeme was a highly respected Buller District councillor for the Inangahua Ward, first elected in 1992, and serving until the end of the 2025 triennium with just one three-year break in between. He served as Deputy Mayor under three different Buller District Mayors.
Graeme was passionate about his community and its people. He chaired the Inangahua Community Board for many years and took great pride in representing the Reefton and Inangahua communities.
His committee experience spanned several disciplines. He was a Resource Management commissioner and chair, and a Te Tai o Poutini Plan committee member.
Graeme’s significant community involvement also included serving as the long-standing chair of Buller’s District Licencing Committee, as a trustee of West Coast Health, and on the West Coast Health Localities Project committee.
Our thoughts are with Graeme’s wife Christine and his family at this time.
