Draft Reserves Management Plan 2026
Buller District Council is commencing consultation to obtain community views on the Draft Reserves Management Plan 2026.
Buller District Council must have an approved Reserves Management Plan for managing and developing Council’s 28 recreation reserves under Section 41 of the Reserves Act 1977. This reserves management plan only includes land held subject to the Reserves Act 1977.
The management plan guides the use, enjoyment, protection, maintenance, preservation and development of the reserves and guides their day-to-day management. It also ensures that the reserves use, development, management and protection are consistent with the individual classification of each reserve.
Council has prepared a consultation document that includes background information, outlines the content of the Draft Plan, explains the review process, gives guidance on how to give feedback, and explains the next steps.
It supports the consultation requirements in Section 41 of the Reserves Act 1977 for the purpose of reviewing the Buller District Council’s Reserves Management Plan 2026.
The Draft Reserve Management Plan 2026, Consultation Document, submission form and associated documents are available for inspection and may be obtained from the Buller District Councils’ offices in Westport or Reefton, Buller District Libraries, Ngakawau Community Centre, or the Karamea Information Centre, and on Council’s community engagement hub Let’s talk Buller.
