Buller Holdings Limited announces director appointments

Buller District Council has recently conducted an appointment process for directors of its Council Controlled Organisation (CCO), Buller Holdings Limited (BHL).

BHL is the parent company for council-owned commercial operations. Its purpose is to generate value for Buller ratepayers, while supporting the wider community.

Buller District Council is the sole shareholder of the company. Its subsidiaries deliver a range of essential services including water services, civil construction and maintenance, parks and reserves management, and recreational facilities.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday 30 September 2026, Dr Carron Blom was appointed as a new director for a three-year term, along with Vanessa van Uden, who was reappointed for a further three-year term.

Dr Blom brings extensive governance, infrastructure and strategic leadership experience, with a strong background in systems thinking, long-term planning and the oversight of complex projects.

Vanessa van Uden has been reappointed to the Board, acknowledging her valuable contribution and extensive governance experience. An experienced professional director, she brings significant expertise in strategic leadership, governance and community engagement.

Mayor Chris Russell says: “I am very pleased to announce these appointments and wish to thank the current directors for their diligent efforts on behalf BHL and the community. I would like to acknowledge the contribution and service given by director Robert Burdekin, who has been a valuable member of the Board since March 2020.”
