Long-Term Plan Funding

What is Long-Term Plan Funding?

Council provide funding through the Long-Term Plan and Annual Plan process to support local groups and organisations delivering projects, services, or events that make a positive difference in our district.

Projects funded must contribute towards Council’s Community Outcomes, which are the goals we work towards for our district – including creating safe, vibrant, inclusive communities, protecting our environment, supporting cultural heritage, improving affordability, and building local prosperity.

All grants and funding made available by BDC will be reviewed and considered during the Long-Term Plan and Annual Plan process and may not automatically be renewed.

Who can apply?

Funding is open to community groups only. To be considered, the proposal must:

  • Be community-led
  • Clearly benefit residents in the Buller District
  • Relate to a cost incurred during the Long-Term Plan period
  • Be made during the Long-Term Plan consultation process.

Previous funding recipients must reapply. They are not automatically reconsidered for further funding.

Funding conditions

  • One-off funding: Recipients must submit a single accountability report at the conclusion of the
    project.
  • Multi-year funding (up to 3 years): An annual accountability report is required before year’s 2 and 3 funds will be released

All recipients must:

  • Use the funding for the approved purpose only.
  • Report on outcomes, spending, and community benefits.
  • Return any unspent funds
  • Community organisations must issue an invoice to Buller District Council by 30 June of the financial year in which the funding was granted
