Major Westport drinking water project approaches full completion

22 Aug 2025

Localised areas of Westport will soon be subject to short water supply disruptions as the new pipework for Stage 2 of the Westport drinking water trunk main is livened.

Residents across Westport are advised to expect small, localised disruptions to their water supply as the new system is livened.

Final dates and durations are being worked through with the contractor, and these will be advised closer to the time. The work is likely to start in early September.

Low pressure may be experienced throughout Westport and Carters Beach during livening of the new trunk main pipe.

A period of no water will be experienced at the far south end of Domett Street while the existing street main is connected to the new street main supplied from the newly constructed section of trunk main.

A period of no water will be experienced for a small, confined area of the network on Abattoir Road and Kew Road while the existing street main is connected to the new street main supplied from the newly constructed section of trunk main.

A period of no water will be experienced for a small, confined area of the network on Derby Street while the existing street main is connected to the new street main supplied from the newly constructed section of trunk main.

A period of no water will be experienced on Queen Street between Roebuck Street and Bentham Street while the existing street main is connected to the new street main supplied from the newly constructed section of trunk main.

Flushing and testing will follow the activities at each location to ensure the water supply has been restored.

Where a property’s new lateral connection is livened as part of these activities, the contractor TruLine Civil’s staff may need to enter your property to run your outside (garden) tap for a brief period to check water is flowing at each residence. They will clearly identify themselves on arrival.

Maps of the affected areas will be provided here and on the BDC Facebook page.

Full information about this work will be available on council’s website and Facebook page. Updates will be provided on the BDC website, Facebook page and on Coast FM.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks residents for their cooperation.
