Weed spraying starts 1 December 2025
WestReef Services Ltd will commence its annual weed spraying programme on Monday 1 December 2025, subject to weather conditions.
Staff will spray weedkiller (herbicide) in and around Westport, Reefton and smaller townships, over a period of 6-8 weeks.
Regular weed spraying is a cost-effective method for maintaining road verges, channels and footpaths.
The weedkiller is glyphosate-based - glyphosate is an efficient product, widely used in New Zealand and considered safe when used according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Council offers a ‘No weed spray’ option to residents and property owners within Buller as long as they agree to maintain the street frontage and roadside channel outside their property in a tidy condition, keeping it free of weeds.

You will be sent an application form and once signed and returned, your property will be added to the register.
Please note, if you have registered your property previously, there is no need to re-register each year.
