Water main shutdown - Bright Street (Palmerston Street to Russell Street): 4 February 2026
The water supply to Bright Street from Palmerston Street to Russell Street will be shut down on Wednesday 4 February from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm for connection of the new water main and laterals to all properties in this area.
There will be NO WATER to all properties
- on the southern side of Bright Street between Queen Street and Russell Street
- on both sides of Bright Street between Russell Street and Palmerston Street
- on the southern side of Bright Street from Palmerston Street to the port area
- on both sides of Palmerston Street from Wallabi Street to Cobden
Street - on both sides of Lyttelton Street
- on both sides of Cobden Street from Palmerston Street to the port end.

Residents are advised to store sufficient water for drinking and flushing toilets during this time, as due to the extent of the works, they are expected to take most of the day.
During this time, there will be a period of no water, followed by a period of low pressure while flushing of all new connections and fire hydrants in the area is completed.
WestReef staff will need to enter any properties receiving a new lateral line and toby to flush the outside tap and check water has been restored following the shutdown. They will identify themselves on arrival and provide assistance where necessary.
This work is weather dependent. The backup date is Thursday 5 February.
