Water Conservation Notice: Westport and Carters Beach
The Westport water reservoir is currently at 98.4% capacity, maintaining a similar level to last week.
Yesterday’s rainfall has significantly increased the intake level. However, due to high water turbidity (cloudiness), the intake is currently shut off (see image below).
As no further rainfall is expected over the next few days, the intake turbidity is expected to settle, allowing the water intake to be reopened within approximately 24 hours. However, continuous rainfall is forecast from Sunday 23 March into next week, which may require the intake to be shut off again during the rainy period.
With sufficient rainfall forecast, Council is considering lifting the water conservation notice after close monitoring, later this week. At this stage, the water conservation notice remains in place due to the uncertainty of intake operations.
Council appreciates residents' cooperation during this period. Weekly updates will continue to be provided.
