Water Conservation Notice - Inangahua Junction water supply
Due to increasing turbidity in the source water for the Inangahua Junction water supply, the intake flow has been reduced from 2.7 m³/hr to 1.6 m³/hr and a Water Conservation Notice has been issued.
With the lower intake flow rate, the water treatment plant will need to operate for longer periods to meet demand. We have also observed a recent increase in local water use.
The Inangahua Junction water supply well does not recharge immediately after rainfall. Instead, it takes time for water to slowly infiltrate through the ground before replenishing the well.
If demand remains high and the intake flow needs to be reduced further, additional water restrictions may be required. Council is closely monitoring the well level, intake flow rate, and overall demand.
Residents are requested to conserve water wherever possible to help maintain a stable and reliable supply.
Council appreciates the community’s cooperation. Updates will continue to be provided here, on the BDC Facebook page and on Coast FM.
