UPDATE - Inangahua Junction Water Conservation Notice: 25/3/26

25 Mar 2026

Council would like to update the Inangahua Junction community on the current status of the Inangahua water supply.

The flow meter recorded a significant increase in water use overnight. The usage pattern does not indicate a leak, instead, it suggests very high consumption at one or more properties. This level of demand is placing pressure on the system.

Due to the increased consumption, treated water storage at the Water Treatment Plant has been steadily declining, dropping from 91.6% to 70%, as the bore supply cannot keep pace with current usage. Recent rainfall has not improved the well level, which is showing no noticeable recovery following recent rain events.

The recent spike in demand, from 0.30 L/s to 0.63 L/s, has placed the network under further strain.

As a result, the Water Conservation Notice will remain in place.

Council asks residents to continue conserving water wherever possible to help maintain a stable and reliable supply for the community.
We appreciate your cooperation and support. Further updates will be provided as conditions change.

If you have any concerns or notice unusual water activity, please contact Council on 0800 807 239.
