Swearing in of Buller’s new council
The new Buller District Council (BDC) will be sworn in next Wednesday 19 October 2022 at the Clocktower Chambers in Westport.
Council’s chief executive officer Sharon Mason says: “We invite residents to join Councillors, their families and council staff for the inauguration of the new elected members. Everyone is welcome.”
The swearing in will be between 10am – 11am and the public is invited. No RSVP is needed. Once sworn in, the elected members will complete their first meeting and begin their induction.
Ms Mason says: “We will work with the newly elected members to provide a thorough familiarisation with BDC and the many strategic topics that will influence the long-term wellbeing of Buller’s community for now and future generations.”
The Councillors will receive a comprehensive two-day induction from BDC staff next week.
Ms Mason says: “In addition to the BDC specific induction process, our new Councillors will attend the Local Government NZ induction in Hokitika as well as participate in further workshops over the coming weeks to gain a solid understanding of the topics that will impact Buller District Council and local government over the next triennium.”
The swearing in will also be livestreamed to council’s YouTube channel, Buller District Council.
