Reefton Visitor and Service Centre opening at 12 pm on Monday 30 June

19 Jun 2025

The Reefton and Inangahua communities are advised that the Reefton Visitor and Service Centre will open later on Monday 30 June 2025, at 12:00 pm, to allow for a counter and library systems relocation.

The current library service counter will be removed and consolidated with the existing Buller District Council service counter, while visitor experience, New Zealand Post and NZTA services will be managed via an adjacent, dedicated counter.

This will reduce wait times for customers and make it easier and faster for staff to complete tasks and engage with customers.

The costs associated with the counter and library service relocation are minimal, as all tasks will be completed by council staff.

Group Manager Community Services Krissy Trigg says: “The space created by moving the library counter will allow establishment of a children’s area for activities, and more room for general library displays. It will also free up more space within the library for seating, computers, and additional displays.

Customers have responded positively to the proposed change, noting its more logical and efficient layout.

Council apologises for any inconvenience the later opening may cause but considers this the safest and most efficient option for both staff and customers.”

Residents are reminded they can use the council or library websites to access information and pay for services including rates, building consent fees, resource consent fees, dog registration and LIMs.
