Notice of road stopping proposal - Deadman's Road, Fairdown

Proposed stopping of road: Parts of Deadmans Road, Fairdown.

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEARBY GIVEN that pursuant to Section 342(1)(a) of the Local Government Act 1974 and the Tenth Schedule thereof, the Buller District Council proposes to stop the road described in the schedule to this notice.

The Buller District Council gives notice that it proposes to stop and sell a total of 1.1855ha of the unformed legal road described in the First Schedule below.

The road to be stopped is a portion of Deadmans Road, Fairdown - approximately 1.3 kilometres East of the intersection of Cawthorn and Deadmans Road and 500 metres West of the intersection of Powerhouse Road and Deadmans Road.

This portion of Deadmans Road is not required for roading purposes. The road when stopped is to be sold to the adjoining owner and amalgamated with their land which is held in Record of Title 766707.

From 12 May 2025 a copy of Survey Office Plan 593213 being the plan of survey showing the portions of road to be stopped will be available for inspection at the Buller District Council Westport Office, 6-8 Brougham Street, Westport and the Reefton Visitor and Service Centre, 67-69 Broadway, Reefton during normal office hours. Information is also available at www.bullerdc.govt.nz 

Anyone wishing to object to this proposed stopping must lodge their objection in writing with the Buller District Council no later than 4:00pm Monday 23 June 2025. Objections can be lodged at either the Westport office or the Reefton Visitor and Service Centre. They can also be posted to Buller District Council, PO Box 21, Westport 7866 or lodged by email to info@bdc.govt.nz (with Road Stopping Objection noted in the heading).
