Inangahua Water Supply update
The Inangahua well level continues to show gradual improvement. Current observations indicate a steady increase of approximately 200 mm per week with the pump operating at low speed.
In response to well level improvements, the operations team have cautiously increased the pump speed. The pump is currently operating at 1.6 m³/hr. This increased pump speed has also reduced the amount of time required to replenish the reservoir, improving overall system efficiency.
To support long-term monitoring and resilience, Council has installed a well level sensor. This sensor allows the operations team to remotely monitor the well in real-time and make timely decisions about pump operation.
Once the well returns to its normal level, the team will be able to resume standard operating speeds remotely. This sensor will also provide an early warning system, should similar issues arise in the future.
Council acknowledges and sincerely appreciates the Inangahua community’s ongoing efforts to conserve water during this period. Your cooperation has played a critical role in supporting the stability of the water supply.
At this stage, the Essential Water Notice remains in place, and weekly updates will continue to be provided.
