Essential water use notice for Inangahua Junction remains in place

18 Feb 2025

The treated reservoir level at Inangahua Junction is currently at 68%. The intake pump continues to operate at its lowest speed due to the depleted underground water source.

The essential water use notice remains in effect, and we urge all residents to continue conserving water.

Essential use includes: drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene.

Please avoid: watering gardens, washing vehicles, filling pools, or using large amounts of water for cleaning.

While we hope that the forecasted rainfall will help recharge the underground source, this supply is not directly connected to the adjacent river. As a result, any increase in the underground water level after rainfall may not be immediately noticeable. However, the operations team will closely monitor the situation.

We understand that this may be concerning for residents. If you have any questions, please contact Council on 0800 807 239 or email info@bdc.govt.nz with the subject line 'Inangahua water supply'.
