Essential Use Water Notice update: Inangahua

09 Apr 2025

The Essential Use Water Notice remains in place for Inangahua.

Approximately 50 days after 15 February 2025, the Inangahua well level has finally shown signs of recovery. A recent manual assessment has confirmed a rise of 230 mm. While this is a positive sign, the level is still approximately three metres below the normal operating level.

As a result, the pump flow has been cautiously increased from 1.4 m³/hr to 1.5 m³/hr. Any further increase at this stage risks drawing higher turbidity (cloudier) water from the bottom of the well. Council will continue to closely monitor the well level and adjust operations as needed.

Town water consumption remains low, allowing the reservoir level to be maintained above 85%. Council would like to sincerely thank the community for their continued cooperation during this critical period. Your efforts have helped maintain the essential water supply.

Weekly updates will continue to be provided.
