Buller District Council's Residents' Survey on track

10 Oct 2025

Buller District Council is pleased with the strong uptake of its Residents’ Survey, with the target quota of responses met several days ahead of the scheduled closing date.

Chief Executive Officer Simon Pickford explains: “The survey, which is conducted every two years, is being managed by independent company Key Research this year and was sent to 5,000 randomly selected residents to ensure a statistically sound result. Elected members, Council employees and their household members are not eligible to take part.

“The Residents’ Survey is an important tool to understand how well we’re meeting community expectations, and we appreciate residents taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback.”

The survey has been updated to include specific questions about how people currently receive and prefer to receive information from council; how they like to engage with council; and any barriers they experience with council’s current communication and engagement methods.

“This evaluation method will provide an independent and representative indicator of the Buller community’s views on council communication” concludes Mr Pickford.

Council expects to receive the draft survey report towards the end of October. The findings will be discussed by council in a workshop.
