Electionz.com has released the progress results for the 2025 local elections in the Buller District.
This result is based upon the counting of approximately 85% of the returned votes. The progress result does not include some special votes, and votes returned today that are still in transit to the processing centre. The outcome of these elections may change once all votes have been counted.
The voter return was 46.37%, being 3,537 votes, excluding votes in transit to the processing centre and special votes.
Final results for the election of two Buller councillors for the West Coast Regional Council, and the election of one Buller trustee for Development West Coast, will be declared by the respective Electoral Officers, and will be available on the Regional Council website www.wcrc.govt.nz and the DWC website www.westcoast.co.nz/development-west-coast

Progress results
These results are subject to change, as voting papers returned to council offices or orange voting bins on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning will still be in transit to the Electoral Officer.
Preliminary results
Preliminary results will be released once all ordinary voting papers have been received and counted. These results will be announced late on Sunday, 12 October or Monday morning, after the last ordinary voting papers that were delivered to orange voting bins and council offices prior to the close of voting have been received and processed. Special votes will not be included. These results are also subject to change.
Final results
The official result will be released when all ordinary and special votes have been counted. This will be released on or before Thursday 16 October, once special voting processes have been completed. These results will be final and be posted on this webpage:
