Water restrictions now in place for Reefton

2nd January, 2018

Due to low reservoir levels and higher than normal usage, consumers on the Reefton water supply are requested to restrict the amount of water they use each day.

To enable the treated water reservoir to recover, consumers are asked to restrict the amount of water used as much as possible. This includes garden irrigation, car washing and other extraordinary water usage.

Restricted  water use definition:
–  Limited use of water for operational and maintenance priorities as required for business sustainability.
–  Limited residential outdoor use with hand-held buckets, watering cans, water blasters and low flow devices/attachments.
–  No high-use consumption/filling activites or general hard-surface hosing is permitted, including unattended sprinkler devices.

Water restrictions are a necessary precaution to delay the need for more stringent restrictions in the future, so we need to conserve water now.

These restrictions will stay in place until further notice.

Buller District Council appreciates residents’ cooperation during this time.
