Buller District Council

Will you be there to welcome Sounds Air?

23rd April, 2015

Tuesday Afternoon (28th April 2015) is the official first flight for our new air service provider Sounds Air.

Buller Mayor, Garry Howard encourages all residents to come along to opening celebration and show their support for this new service that has been tailored to our district’s needs.

Official proceedings will begin at 4pm.

There will be a lucky dip draw for those in attendance, with the lucky winners receiving a free short flight that will take off at around 4.30pm so that all spectators will not only see the plane on the tarmac, up close and personal, they will get to meet the pilots and can see our new plane in action.

Entries have been coming in slowly for the Sounds Air colouring competition. All entries need to be dropped into Council by 4.30pm on Friday 24 April 2015. Winners of each category for this competition will be announced during the formal proceedings. Winners won’t fly on the day of announcement. A separate flight will be arranged for a later day.

“I am so excited to welcome Sounds Air and have them officially operating in our district. They have been wonderful to deal with and I look forward to Buller developing a long and positive relationship with Andrew Crawford (Sounds Air, Managing Director) and his team.”

“This new service also wouldn’t have been possible without the support from Development West Coast, so come along to the opening and show your support. We want to make this a real positive community event, there will be a sausage sizzle and the Westport Brass Band will also be playing” comments Mayor Howard.
