Westport Water Supply – Derby Street Upgrade

17th February, 2016

Consumers on the Westport water supply are advised that the supply will be shut down in Derby Street between Bentham Street and Rintoul Street on Friday 19 February from 9.00am until approximately 5.00pm.

The reason for shut down is to allow the ‘livening up’ of new water mains as part of the Derby Street upgrade. Normal pressure and flow will be resumed as soon as possible.

Other consumers, particularly near the south end of Derby Street and adjacent streets may experience very low pressure and minimal water flow. In this event consumers need to be prepared by storing sufficient water for use during this period.

Consumers are advised that mains flushing will be carried out following the reinstatement of full pressure. However, if any resident experiences slightly discoloured water they should run an outside hose tap for 10-15 minutes.

Council apologises for any inconvenience to consumers.
