Two nominations for ICB by-election

Buller District Council has received two nominations from local people keen to replace Rachel Fifield who resigned from the Inangahua Community Board during October 2020.

Cory Alexander Aitken and Michael Brian Hammond both lodged nominations prior to the deadline at midday yesterday (Tuesday 22 December).

Mr Hammond lives in the Ikamatua Valley area and has lived in the Inangahua for around four-years. Robert Nyhan and Gavin Hinton supported his nomination.

Mr Aitken is a born and breed ‘Reeftonite’ and is curator at Blacks Point Museum. His nomination was supported by Peter Lawn and Cheryl Mitchell.

Voting documents will be sent to all qualified electors by post between Tuesday 26 January 2021 and no later than Monday 1 February 2021.

Voting documents must be returned by post or delivered to reach the Electoral Officer, Buller District Council no later than noon on Wednesday 17 February 2021.

Any person may apply to enrol as either a residential elector or a ratepayer elector not later that the day before the close of voting, being 16 February 2021.

For the purposes of special voting, the Electoral Officer will be available at the Reefton Service Centre on Thursday 11 February 2021 between 10am – 2pm.
