Buller District Council

Seddon Ward Election Result

11th October, 2016

The Buller District Council Electoral Officer, John Rodger, announced this morning that prior to sending the last of the received voting papers to Greymouth by courier yesterday, he carried out a provisional count of the 47 Seddon ward papers received on Saturday plus the one special vote that was confirmed by the Electoral Commission.

This provisional count has seen a major change from the preliminary result for that ward, with the Election Day order of candidates having changed.

The results of Mr Rodger’s count (with the original numbers in brackets) are

Bronwyn Anderson 301 (290),

Dick Marsh 199 (186),

Emily Miazga 305 (277),

Vicky Larking 88 (82),

Martin Hill 306 (279),

and Informal 5 (4).

This means that both Ms Miazga (305) and Mr Hill (306) have jumped ahead of Ms Anderson (301) for the two places for the Seddon Ward on the Council.

The full results have seen no other changes to the placings as posted in Saturday’s preliminary results within any of the other issues – Inangahua and Westport wards for the Council, plus the Buller district representatives on the West Coast Regional Council and the Development West Coast Trust.

The final results will be published in tomorrow’s press.
