Buller District Council

Reefton Water Supply Boil Water Notice

22nd January, 2020

Due to an E. Coli transgression found in a routine water sample, Council wishes to advise that all consumers on the

Reefton Water Supply will be required to boil all drinking water and water used for food preparation until further notice.

Testing of the water supply is being carried out and Council will advise once samples have been found to be clear of contamination.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates residents’ cooperation during this time.

How do I use water when a Boil Water Notice has been issued?

Please boil all water for drinking and cooking water for at least 1 minute before you use it. This includes water for: drinking (including baby/infant formula and making up juices), cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes.

Electric jugs with an automatic cut-off switch can be used as long as they are full, but the jug must be boiled twice before the water can be used. Each time allow the water to come to boil and wait for it to switch off — do not hold the switch down to increase the boiling time.

Please continue to boil water until you are advised that the boil water notice has been lifted.
