Media Release – Resignation – Group Manager, Commercial & Corporate Services

After 14 ½ years of working with Buller District Council, Dean Phibbs, Group Manager Corporate & Commercial Services has called it a day.  In this unusual COVID year, Dean has determined that he wishes to have the opportunity to “explore his own back yard” and have more time to indulge in his passion for outdoor pursuits.

Throughout his tenure, Dean has seen many changes in local government and Buller, he has been a pivotal part of the senior leadership team and is regarded highly by his colleagues both locally and regionally.

Buller District Council CEO Sharon Mason said “it has been a privilege to work with Dean over the past 2 years, his leadership leaves the organisation in a strong financial position”.  Dean has assisted bringing significant capital investment to Westport port through the Provincial Growth Fund and has brought a strong commercial focus to Buller Council.

Deputy Mayor Sharon Roche, Chair Finance, Risk & Audit (FRAC) says “I have greatly valued the management/governance partnership with Dean over the years, he has been a real asset to the organisation and to me in my role as Chair of FRAC.  I wish him well on his new adventures”.  Dean’s last day working day will be 24 December 2020.
