Buller District Council

Long Term Plan consultation open

16th April, 2021

Buller District Council’s draft 2021 – 2031 Long Term Plan (LTP) is open for public consultation from 16 April to the 18 May.

From this Friday 16 April, anyone can provide feedback to council on its draft 2021-2031 LTP by way of making a written submission. Submissions will be accepted until 4:30pm on Friday 18 May. Council will be holding a mix of public meetings and drop-in sessions across the district so that people can pick up copies of the Consultation Document, and submission forms, and ask questions of staff and Councillors.

Mayor Jamie Cleine says: “The community will start to notice communication activities being rolled out to raise awareness about the draft LTP, the associated dates, processes, events, and to stimulate submissions.

“The key theme of our draft 2021-2031 LTP communication campaign is ‘shaping our district’ with sub theme of have your say, get involved, make a submission.

“To increase awareness, we have incorporated strong visual elements like puzzle pieces, black and white photos, a selfie frame, videos, puzzle piece stickers on footpaths, and a large 3D puzzle piece.

“We are using multi-media channels including – Facebook, radio, print adverts, council’s newsletter Connect, along with public meetings and drop-in sessions.

Information will also be available on council’s website and through its offices and libraries in Westport and Reefton, i-SITES, the Ngakawau Resource Centre, and the information centre in Karamea.

“We chose this bold, colourful, personal and new approach since every voice really does matter to us. Councillors absolutely take account of what people have told us when we sit down to make our decisions.”

The LTP guides everything council does, ensuing that every step council takes is a step toward achieving Buller’s community’s vision for the future.

To provide feedback visit the council’s website, send an enquiry email, or phone council offices.
Submissions can be made in writing or online. More info at www.bullerdc.govt.nz/long-term-plan.
