Kawatiri update

21st June, 2021

On Saturday (12 June) afternoon while conducting dredging work, the Kawatiri sustained some minor damage to hull plating when the vessel briefly grounded.

The damage has been assessed and is not of a critical nature. Some repairs will be required once the vessel can be slipped however, following consultation with the ship’s surveyor, the ship will resume dredging from Tuesday morning whilst slipping arrangements are made.

It is believed 24 hours on the slip will be required to repair the plating. There were no injuries or damage to other vessels or structures.

At this stage, the cost of the repair work is unknown.
