Buller District Council

Final ICB results are in!

1st September, 2015

Voting closed for the Inangahua Community Board by-election yesterday and the final results have been collated.

Voters in the Inangahua Ward had to vote for two new members to join the Board. Using the first past the post system, the two highest pollers were Susan Barnett and Alun Bollinger. These two new members will be sworn in at the next Inangahua Community Board meeting to be held on 6 October 2015.

The turnout of voters was 47.3% of the total that were eligible to vote. This number is higher than the votes received at the 2013 election where only 33.4% of voters had their say.

A total of five people stood for the two vacancies on the Board. “It is heartening to have such strong community interest from all candidates that put themselves forward. Reefton and the Inangahua Community Board will have plenty to work on with Reefton Community Centre, Historic Powerhouse Walk and other challenges facing the district. Councillors look forward to working with the new representatives” comments Buller Mayor, Garry Howard.
