Chief Executive Officer Annual Remuneration and Performance Review 2021

At it is meeting held 21 March 2021, the Finance Risk and Audit Committee resolved to appoint Ms Debbie Dawson of Dawson McKenzie Consulting to conduct the annual remuneration and performance review of Chief Executive Officer, Sharon Mason.

Ms Dawson is an independent consultant in leadership and workforce development, who has particular interest in organisational culture.  A former Vice President of Human Resources NZ (HRNZ). Mayor Jamie Cleine said, “We are pleased to have Ms Dawson assisting elected members through the employment relations component of Sharon’s annual review”.

Sharon’s two previous reviews had been conducted by former interim CEO, Mr Keith Marshall.  This provided for continuity with past processes, familiarity with BDC, including the recruitment and employment process that was conducted with Sharon and the continuation of those implemented structures.

Sharon’s performance will be reviewed against the key performance indicators and 360 feedback from elected member and senior members of staff.  “This is a process that as elected members, we are not specialists in and by engaging Ms Dawson’s expertise, we are enabling a fair process for Sharon and elected members” Mayor Jamie Cleine said.
