Buller District Council

By-election for Inangahua Community Board

2nd June, 2015

The Buller District Council is calling for nominations for a by-election for the Inangahua Community Board, with two positions being made available due to the retirement of current members.

The role of the Inangahua Community Board is to help the Council to understand and meet the needs of the Inangahua community. If being a key leader in the community is of interest to you and you live in the Inangahua Ward of the Buller district, please complete a nomination form and return it the Council.

Nomination forms for this by-election are available from the Council office in Westport and Reefton, or please click the link below.  Forms need to be lodged with the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Monday 6 July 2015. Nomination forms can be submitted with an accompanying profile statement and a recent photograph, as well as the prescribed nomination fee of $200 (inclusive of GST).

If there is only two nominations, those people will be appointed. If there is more than two nominations there will be a postal election. All those in the Inangahua Ward will be posted voting papers if an election is required. An election will allow all those enrolled on the electoral role, to have their say as to who they think would be best to represent the Inangahua community, on the Inangahua Community Board. If there is to be an election, voting will close on Monday 31 August 2015, with the result announced as soon as possible after this time.
