Water Conservation Notice: Waimangaroa
The Restricted Use Water Notice for Waimangaroa has been lifted and replaced by a Water Conservation Notice.
The recent trunk main replacement has significantly reduced water loss, resulting in minimal impact on water demand. However, due to recent minimal rainfall, the primary water source is showing signs of low flow.
As a result, the operations team has reinstated the weir at the secondary water source from Conns Creek, allowing water to be drawn from this source. While the intake flow has improved, low creek levels have been observed.
Conns Creek contains a higher level of organic matter, so residents may notice slight changes in their water's appearance.
The weather forecast predicts minimal rainfall this week, with more significant rain expected next week. However, the Conns Creek secondary water source is at higher risk of turbidity during heavy rain, and the operations team will closely monitor conditions. The secondary source will be turned off if necessary.
With the support of the secondary water source, the water restriction notice has been lifted, but a Water Conservation Notice remains in place due to low intake levels.
