Buller District Council acknowledges passing of Queen Elizabeth II

09 Sep 2022

Buller District Council’s Brougham House is today flying the New Zealand flag at half-mast in respect for the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Buller District Mayor Jamie Cleine says “On behalf of the Buller District it is with sadness that I acknowledge the passing of Queen Elizabeth ll.  I am in awe of the lifetime of service to the commonwealth the Queen has provided.  Her leadership as head of state for New Zealand has been exemplary with genuine interest and support for regions such as ours over her 70-year reign.

I offer my condolences on behalf of the Buller community to the Royal family at the passing of a dearly admired and respected Queen, mother, and grandmother.”

There will be a condolence book available at both the Westport Brougham House and Reefton Service Centre reception areas for the community to write in if they wish. This will be sent to the royal family. Flowers can also be left at the Gates of Remembrance in Westport.
