Buller District Council

Beautification Awards 2015

4th December, 2014

It’s that time of the year again to think about entering the annual Buller Beautification awards. Hopefully by the time you receive this newsletter, the weather has improved and your summer garden is starting to take shape.

Council has made a couple of changes this year to the format of these awards. We have removed the categories for the Urban Frontage, Rural Frontage and Non-Residential Frontage. This is mainly due to the fact that it has always been a confusing category and no matter how we have tried to convey the ruling, there have always been a number of entries into these categories, where they shouldn’t have been.

The other change to the awards is that the Reefton / Inangahua area will now have their own categories of Best Residential Garden and Best Rural Garden to be judged.

Gardens will be judged in the last week of January / first week in February 2015. Remember, judging is done from the street only, as the awards are all about what the residents or visitors can see as they pass by.

Entry forms are now available from the Buller District Council offices in Westport and Reefton, Karamea Information & Resource Centre, selected retailers and can also be downloaded below.

We encourage as many of you to take part in these awards because you never know, your garden could win the ‘Premier’ Award for best garden overall, throughout the district.
