Vision 2010 is the name that was given to bring Buller and its community services and facilities to the 21st century.
Buller entered 2005 with no recycling services, no sewerage or wastewater treatment, rudimentary drinking-water treatment, and community facilities at the end of their serviceable life, the Council faced the mammoth task of how to improve services, meet community expectations and growth, but still manage the rates increases required to fund improvements.
Major projects that resulted from Vision 2010 are the Solid Energy Centre for sport and leisure and the NBS Theatre which is the hub of theatre and cinema for Westport.
Funds have also been distributed through to the rural areas of Buller, Community projects in the Seddon and Inangahua wards have allowed for a significant upgrade to community facilities for the benefit of many in those smaller communities.
