Buller District Council

Media release – Rates Overhaul Consultation open now

15th November, 2017

Buller District Council is considering changing the way rates are calculated and are asking for community input on the proposal.

“Consultation starts today (15th November 2017) and closes on 18th December 2017, and we would like to hear from as many people as possible, to understand the community point of view on this proposed change” says Mayor Garry Howard. All ratepayers will receive a summary of the proposal, along with a sample rates assessment in the mail soon. This will indicate what their rates could change to if the proposal was adopted.

In addition to the mail out, all consultation material is also available on our website.  Submissions can be made in various ways, either paper based and submitted to our Council office, email submissions, or completing the submission form on our website.

An online lookup of the “sample rates assessments” has also been provided.

To access this go to http://bullerdc.govt.nz/rates/  to view the current rating database. After searching for your property an additional link (in red, halfway down the page) is available. When this it clicked on it will show what your rates will look like under the new Rates Overhaul Proposal.  It is then easy to compare your rates to the current rates for the 2017/2018 year which is already on the same page.
