Buller District Council

First Workshop Held- Accessible Buller

13th May, 2019

The first community workshop has been held this afternoon at EPIC in Westport. Second workshop is tonight from 6pm to 8pm at EPIC Westport. A workshop is also being held in Reefton tomorrow (Tuesday) from 10am to 12pm at the St John Hall

The Buller District already has some good pedestrian and cycling facilities and an improvement work program is already underway. However Council is keen to address existing residents’ concerns about making the district accessible for everyone and is prioritised accordingly.

Building on previous feedback, we want your help to decide how to make the district even more accessible, how to spend existing budget and help attract more funding.  Council have engaged Abley transport consultants to assist with the development of the future-focused plan.  They know the Buller district well and have experience planning and designing for more accessible communities, which they will use to help maximise the opportunities to enhance the environment further.

The workshops will focus on gaining your views to:

·       establish satisfaction with current accessibility

·       what people like/don’t like about access

·       what will make walking environments better

·       where priorities should be for future investment.
